After Australia gathering colossal recognition for its extensive ‘Curry Bashing’, the latest kid on the block to advance upon similar endeavors seems to be th US. The reason to assume this, is the recent attack on a Sikh youth in Texas, which can be termed nothing less than brutal. This pizza delivery boy was assaulted by a bunch of young Americans who later brought him face to face with death by almost drowning him in a swimming pool, before he managed to escape and cling on to dear life.
This young Sikh is among the thousands of Indians and Asians attacked every month in these countries where they move to, hoping to secure a better future for themselves by gaining the best training possible in their respective fields of interests. But of late, alarming numbers of these students have ended up gathering nothing but bitter and disconcerting experiences, and securing a future full of unrelenting trauma and trepidation for themselves.
The question that needs to be answered after observing this disturbing trend that has enveloped these nations, believed to be the best and most desirable study and training destinations for ambitious Asians, is why exactly are they subjected to such racial harassment? What is it that makes them so vulnerable to attacks by locals?
There could actually be numerous possible answers to this question. One reason might be the inability of a normal local to adjust with or accept immigrants. There exists a very probable consideration that most people of such countries are unable to acknowledge or live with the fact of an unknown immigrant extracting the best out of their country’s top notch facilities and later seizing the employment opportunities that are supposed to rightfully belong to natives. In many cases, it has also been noticed that the mannerisms and characteristic behavior of immigrants tend to annoy the natives. This may reflect a conspicuous insecurity of the human mind and patent reluctance to fine-tune with change and acknowledge or appreciate contrasting cultures and better abilities or skills.
Some of the defenders of these countries that have been stained and disgraced by being tagged ‘racist’, argue that attacks on Indians or immigrants in general, are not results of racial discrimination but are as normal as attacks on natives. They advocate the possible reasons for these attacks are often personal and have nothing to do with any kind of intention or sentiment of racial prejudice.
These possible causes and justifications for the escalating attacks on immigrants are interminable. But what needs attention is the very fact that something as ugly as this is happening in the contemporary world that is aiming for world peace and breaking down all social, economic and geographical barriers by means of miraculous developments in technology, which again is the result of collective efforts and contributions made by almost all the parts of the world. What needs attention is analyzing why, despite all this progress and growth, our minds remain primitive and despicable. And hence, what definitely needs amendment is our thinking and our conscience, so that we’re able to look into the depths of our own selves and discover better people with broader visions and greater hearts, discover people who lead themselves and the world collectively, to new and towering heights of success and mental peace. Even if this united effort doesn’t make this world a Utopian reality, it will definitely make it a much better place to live peacefully in.. So why not give it a try?

Food Inflation continues North ward spiral with latest figures revealing inflation to be at 17.56%
RBI seeks to coordinate the fledging growth with monetary and fiscal policy.
As food inflation rises at alarming rates the RBI walks a tightrope between tightening credit policy and the nascent recovery. At the quarterly credit policy review the RBI increases the CRR by 75 basis points (0.75%) rather than the expected 50 basis points. The RBI however leaves the repo rate unchanged though it was expected to be increased by 50 basis points. The current inflationary situation however is supply side based, affecting the Consumer Price Index. The credit policy however has a larger impact on the Whole Sale Price Index (WPI). The CRR rise shall phase out Rs 36,000 crores ($7.2 billion) worth of liquidity from the system. The RBI has further initiated a phased rollback of fiscal expansionary policy by increasing the Statutory Liquidity Ratio to the pre-crisis level of 25% from 24%. Stronger inflationary measures may however damage the recovery.
Food inflation is however being joined by wider system inflation driven by demand side factors as expansionary factors work their way through the system. The RBI must coordinate the fiscal and monetary policies to achieve the fiscal deficit target and yet keeping the stimulus in place to allow the recovery to strengthen. However increasing global commodity prices, principally crude oil prices are threatning to affect the fiscal deficit and the Wholesale Price Index. The Kirit Parikh Committee recommended a drastic increase in the prices of the primary petroleum products. While petrol and diesel must be be allowed free pricing the kersosene subisdy must be decreased by Rs 6/litre and LPG subsidy be decreased by Rs 100/litre according to the recommendations of the committee. While these recommendations are too drastic as short term measures the 6th February Chief Minister’s Meeting with the PM may see a price hike of Rs3/litre in petrol and Rs3-4/litre in diesel. This shall reduce the fiscal deficit pressure on the government and allow the oil companies more headroom to increase profit margins , but it shall lead to a dramatic increase in the wholesale price index. To service the fiscal deficit target without jeopardizing the WPI the government must fast track the disinvestment programme as the increased cash flow situation shall allow it postpone increases in the basic crude commodities that have amongst the highest weightage in the WPI.
While the current growth in the WPI is demand based showcasing the positive impact of the exapansionary fiscal policy the global oil prices threaten to turn the WPI growth into a supply side inflation that shall lead to decceleration of industrial growth that is presently the highest in 18 months. It is therefore essential to postpone increases in the petroleum prices till industrial growth recovers fully.
Increasing the rates shall not help the problem as it will increase bond yields and will increase the interest payement on debt thus further affecting the fiscal deficit position. Thus keeping the growth, the WPI and fiscal deficit in mind it is essential for the central government to accelerate the disinvestment process that shall allow the Union government to maintain commodity prices at current levels leaving the industrial based inflation constant at the current 8.5% year on year.
In the meantime however the Union and State Government must act in coordination to increase the supply of essential grains in the country. To combat the supply side inflationary pressures the government must actively mobilise the Public Distribution System and release the grain supplies into the open market. Sharad Pawar has said that he believes that the inflation is supply side based and that credit policy shall have little impact on the Consumer Price Index, he believes the Chief Minister’s Meet shall be crucial. The annual budget may see an increased allocation for the farm sector, rural infrastructual developement and tax incentives to food processing industries with the aim of increasing supplies in the long term. In the year 2008-2009 Rs 58,000 crores of agricultural food items were affected by infrastructure deficit.
In conclusion the RBI and the Union government need to coordinate the priorities of industrial and wider based GDP growth with comparision to the supply side food inflation affecting the common man and the demand side Wholesale Index inflation that threatens industrial recovery. Furthermore fiscal deficit and monetary policy need to be reviewed with the disinvestment programme being accelerated to augument the government expenditure on petroleum subsidy and expansionary credit policy.

Grading system- better or worse All of us know the hot news about the grading system that was established from the year 2009 from kindergarten to grade 10. It is also proposed that the 10th board exams will be made optional from the next year. But till last year 10 was a very important year for all of us. Students were under pressure and anyone who came across asked them to study well {I can understand how it might have felt} But know it will all be easy. How many of you think it’s better now. What I feel is life is nothing without problems. The 10th grade was a challenge for all to do well and score good marks but now it’s quite simplified. Other drawback is that it places a student scoring 90.1 % and 94.98% at the same position. Isn’t that quite unfair??? “The teachers as well as the students are not liking it, taking in consideration the competitive spirit“as said by 10 grade teacher. Al though the pressure on the students has gone down the system has experienced many drawbacks. How many of you feel so?????? Follow my blogs for more such interesting topics.

Education plays a major role in shaping up the future of children. Proper education provided to children can not only help them achieve good career but also help in the betterment of society. It is the quality education which can turn an ordinary child into an extraordinary individual. Many children are deprived of education which is a major set back to development of India.
Education must aim not only to provide literacy but also in overall development of a child’s personality. Quality education must aim on fulfilling the special learning needs of children. Children need to be taught in a way they can enjoy learning different things, rather than study and write exams just to score good marks. Rather than just concentrating on academics, children must be encouraged to take part in extra curricular activities, sports, debates, project works etc. The education provided must boost a child’s ability to reason and analyse. This can bring about an innovation in education.
There are a number of schools and educational institutions which aim to provide quality education. There are schools having CBSE, ICSE syllabus which educate the children in India at a national level. International schools provide education matching the global standards. Convent schools also aim to provide quality education with moral values to children which help develop their personality. Residential schools in turn make a child more disciplined, responsible and hard working.
It is the teacher who teaches the child in a number of ways to help understand the subject. A good teacher can make a great impact on student’s life by making learning an excitement. The betterment of children needs improvement in education by quality teaching institutions, which can be achieved by betterment of teachers. The increasing awareness of the importance of efficient teachers in quality education has led to the development of a number of teaching colleges which aim to produce excellent teachers who can provide high quality education. The teaching colleges provide courses like bachelor of education, masters of education etc. Some teaching institutions also guarantee placements to the students.
Education can have a great influence on a person’s life. Quality education if provided to all the children including the underprivileged children can help in making great changes in society. Although there are a number of schools in India, but no good school is affordable by the poor. It is the responsibility of every citizen towards the country to help everyone get good education. It is only education which can bring about a great development to make India have a better tomorrow.

The awareness of importance of quality education for betterment of individual and society has led to a number of foundations working for the betterment of educations. These non-profit educational organizations work mainly for improving the quality of education and making it reachable to even the most underprivileged children. Most of these non-profit organizations have joint ownerships and are run by business men.

No doubt education is very important for shaping the future, but not all children are lucky enough to get educated in top schools paying a hefty fee. One of the major contributions of non profit organizations is providing education to those deprived of it. They have established a number of schools for the underprivileged where the children can acquire education free of cost or at an affordable cost. The children are also encouraged by scholarships and rewards. There are organizations which provide shelter along with education to those who have no roof to stay.
Another major contribution of these organizations is facility to provide education to the physically disabled. There are separate schools established for physically and mentally disabled children. These schools have specially trained teachers who can teach such children with special care.

The non profit organizations have a humanistic approach and aim to create national assets. These foundations reached great heights by implementing speed with accuracy ideas. It is the simple ideas implemented in an extraordinary way which helped them achieve success in helping for the betterment of education.
It is not the work of single individual that can bring about the changes in society. Upliftment of society requires cooperation of all educated citizens in helping to spread the awareness of importance of education as well as helping in education. One can either make donations in educating children or become a volunteer for education. The non profit educational organizations can help your services reach the children in need of education.
